PC817C FAQ

What is pc817c?

PC817 IC is an optocoupler that includes a phototransistor and an IR diode. PC817 IC includes an LED & a phototransistor which are connected jointly optically. The signal can be transmitted optically in between an i/p and an o/p side without any physical connection.

What is an optocoupler used for?

Optocouplers can either be used on their own as a switching device, or used with other electronic devices to provide isolation between low and high voltage circuits. You'll typically find these devices being used for: Microprocessor input/output switching. DC and AC power control.

What is the function photocoupler?

An opto-isolator (also called an optocoupler, photocoupler, or optical isolator) is an electronic component that transfers electrical signals between two isolated circuits by using light. Opto-isolators prevent high voltages from affecting the system receiving the signal.

What is the difference between photocoupler and optocoupler?

Although photocouplers conduct only DC (direct current) in the output, OCMOS FETs can conduct both DC and AC (alternating current) in the FETs. Generally, the operating speed of photocouplers is in microseconds or more rapid, while that of OCMOS FETs is as slow as milliseconds.

What is a photocoupler output?

A photocoupler is a device incorporating a light-emitting diode (LED) and a photodetector in one package. Unlike other optical devices, light is not emitted outside the package. Although a photocoupler is an optical device, it does not handle light, but handles electrical signals.
