NEO-M8P FAQ

What is GNSS module?

A GNSS module is a device that provides geolocation data by receiving signals from multiple satellites of a GNSS constellation. GNSS modules are used to provide continuous location data which can be used for navigation, to track assets and for a host of other applications.

What are GNSS devices?

GNSS stands for Global Navigation Satellite System and is used to describe any satellite navigation system with global coverage. Satellite navigation systems relay highly accurate geolocation information to GNSS devices and receivers to determine your current location.

Is GNSS better than GPS?

GNSS and GPS work together, but the main difference between GPS and GNSS is that GNSS-compatible equipment can use navigational satellites from other networks beyond the GPS system, and more satellites means increased receiver accuracy and reliability.

How accurate is GNSS?

Errors in satellite orbit position can lead to around 2.5 meters' loss of accuracy. In open sky conditions, standard accuracy GNSS receivers are accurate to within about two meters. High precision GNSS systems dramatically improve precision using GNSS correction data to cancel out GNSS errors.

What are the three major components of GNSS system?

GNSS satellite systems consist of three major components or “segments”: space segment, control segment and user segment.
