Product Overview

The MBR0530 uses the Schottky Barrier principle with a large area metal−to−silicon power diode. Ideally suited for low voltage, high frequency rectification or as free wheeling and polarity protection diodes in surface mount applications where compact size and weight are critical to the system. This package also provides an easy to work with alternative to leadless 34 package style.

What is the Schottky diode and how it works?

In a Schottky diode, a semiconductor–metal junction is formed between a semiconductor and a metal, thus creating a Schottky barrier. The N-type semiconductor acts as the cathode and the metal side acts as the anode of the diode. This Schottky barrier results in both a low forward voltage drop and very fast switching.

 

What are the advantages of Schottky diodes?
