ESD suppressor protects Electric devices from ESD by utilizing the ability to decrease its resistance value rapidly when high voltage is applied to ESD Suppressor. ESD Suppressor contributes to ensure the signal quality of High-speed serial data line and high frequency circuit in normal use (not applied high voltage). How does ESD protection work?ESD protection prevents high voltages and currents generated from the ESD strike from reaching the IC or USB. ESD diodes are connected between the interface connectors and the IC in order to be protected. By placing the ESD in the signal line, the EOS is prevented from damaging the IC. Is ESD positive or negative?This charge occurs when two different materials rub against each other – one becomes positive charged and the other negatively. The charge will remain until it is removed (discharged) by way of electric current or electrical discharge. Their p-n junctions have a larger cross-sectional area than those of a normal diode, allowing them to conduct large currents to ground without sustaining damage. What is the difference between Zener and TVS diode?A Zener diode clamps input voltage to a constant voltage and supplies clamped voltage to other semiconductor devices. Thus, a TVS diode absorbs surge voltage to protect other semiconductor devices, whereas a Zener diode provides constant voltage to other semiconductor devices. Where do we use TVS diode?The TVS diodes fast response time and low clamping voltages make them ideal for use as board level protectors for semiconductors and other sensitive components. Applications include data and signal lines, microprocessors & MOS memory, AC power lines, and telecommunication equipment. What is the difference between TVS and ESD diode?However, there is a clear distinction.
