What is Automated Optical Inspection (AOI)?
The main purpose of automated visual inspection (AOI) is to check printed circuit board assemblies for flaws (PCBAs). Two types of failures are found when AOI autonomously scans PCBAs using cameras: catastrophic failures, such as missing components, and second-order failures.
What kinds of optical inspection equipments are there?
Four fundamental categories can be used to group optical inspection tools. microscopes, laser systems, video systems, and optical comparators. Optical comparators enlarge and project the picture of an object onto a glass screen using conventional optics.
