Package mechanical data

In order to meet environmental requirements, ST offers these devices in ECOPACK® packages. These packages have a Lead-free second level interconnect . The category of second level interconnect is marked on the package and on the inner box label, in compliance with JEDEC Standard JESD97. The maximum ratings related to soldering conditions are also marked on the inner box label. ECOPACK is an ST trademark.

TIP3055 FAQ

What is complementary power transistor?

Complementary. Power Transistors. For Isolated Package Applications. Complementary power transistors are for general purpose power amplification and switching such as output or driver stages in applications such as switching regulators, converters and power amplifiers.

Why the complementary symmetry amplifier is used?

The complementary symmetry circuit provides all the advantages of conventional push-pull amplifiers without the need for a phase-inverter driver stage, or for a center-tapped input transformer.

Does transistor work on AC or DC?

As we said before, transistors are DC components. This means that the output will also be a DC voltage. But if we amplify an AC voltage, then we probably want to get an AC voltage at the output as well.

Can AC flow through a transistor?

Normally in transistor circuits, ac means small signal ac. If this is what you mean, the answer is yes. Small signal ac is what a transistor designed to do. Small signal ac means a transistor is operating with relatively small changes around its operating point where the operation can be considered linear.

What is complementary power amplifier?

In most applications where AC power is driving a load, a complementary symmetry (push-pull) power amplifier is employed. This amplifier usually has a voltage gain of one, and a large current gain. It is the most efficient configuration for transforming DC power from the power supply to the AC power driving the load.
