Product Overview

The MMA8451Q is a smart, low-power, three-axis, capacitive, micromachined accelerometer with 14 bits of resolution. This accelerometer is packed with embedded functions with flexible user programmable options, configurable to two interrupt pins. Embedded interrupt functions allow for overall power savings relieving the host processor from continuously polling data. There is access to both low-pass filtered data as well as high-pass filtered data, which minimizes the data analysis required for jolt detection and faster transitions. The device can be configured to generate inertial wakeup interrupt signals from any combination of the configurable embedded functions allowing the MMA8451Q to monitor events and remain in a low-power mode during periods of inactivity. The MMA8451Q is available in a 16-pin QFN, 3 mm x 3 mm x 1 mm package.

MMA8451QR1 FAQ

What is an MMA8451QR1?

The MMA8451Q is a smart, low-power, three-axis, capacitive, micromachined accelerometer with 14 bits of resolution. This accelerometer is packed with embedded functions with flexible user programmable options, configurable to two interrupt pins. The MMA8451Q is available in a 16-pin QFN, 3 mm x 3 mm x 1 mm package.

What is XYZ accelerometer?

The accelerometer in the mobile device provides the XYZ coordinate values, which is used to measure the position and the acceleration of the device. The XYZ coordinate represents direction and position of the device at which acceleration occurred. Linear acceleration does not include the gravity.

What is accelerometer reading?

Accelerometers are devices that measure acceleration, which is the rate of change of the velocity of an object. They measure in meters per second squared (m/s2) or in G-forces (g). Accelerometers are useful for sensing vibrations in systems or for orientation applications.
