ADRF5020 Switch: Datasheet, Eval Board, Pinout [FAQ]

  • Contents

Product Overview

The ADRF5020 is a general-purpose, single-pole, double-throw (SPDT) switch manufactured using a silicon process. It comes in a 3 mm × 3 mm, 20-terminal land grid array(LGA) package and provides high isolation and low insertion loss from 100 MHz to 30 GHz.

This broadband switch requires dual supply voltages, +3.3 V and −2.5 V, and provides CMOS/LVTTL logic-compatible control.

This blog will introduce ADRF5020 systematically from its features, pinout to its specifications, applications, also including ADRF5020 datasheet and so much more.

ADRF5020 FAQ

What is an SPDT switch?

A Single Pole Double Throw (SPDT) switch is a switch that only has a single input and can connect to and switch between the 2 outputs. This means it has one input terminal and two output terminals. A Single Pole Double Throw switch can serve a variety of functions in a circuit.

What is the difference between SPDT and DPDT?

The difference between SPDT and DPDT is that SPDT has a single input that connects to two outputs while the DPDT has two SPDT integrated together which enables it to control two circuits together at the same time.

What are the applications of SPDT switches?

The application of SPDT switch is mainly involved in a three-way circuit to turn ON/OFF a light from two locations like from the top & bottom of a stairway. In the circuit below, when the switch A is closed, then the current flows through the terminals, but only light A will glow and light B will OFF.

How many connections are needed for a SPDT switch?

SPDT switch is a five terminal switch device — two input terminals, and three output terminals (two terminals connect to the load, and one terminal connect to the common terminal).

When would you use a DPDT switch?

A DPST switch is often used to switch mains electricity because it can isolate both the live and neutral connections. A pair of on-on switches which operate together (shown by the dotted line in the circuit symbol). A DPDT switch can be wired up as a reversing switch for a motor as shown in the diagram.
