The FT232R is the most recent addition to FTDI's USB UART interface Integrated Circuit Device line. The FT232R is a USB to serial UART interface that includes an optional clock generator output as well as the new FTDIChip-/DTM security dongle feature. Asynchronous and synchronous bit bang interface modes are also available. The FT232R has been used to simplify USB to serial designs by fully integrating the external EEPROM, clock circuit, and USB resistors onto the device.
